        Re: Drum Sequencing

Drum sequencing sounds a bit fague too me. Because it really depends on what type of music you want to create. If you need help with reason in general for creating drum sequences, I think I could share some knowledge here.

It is not always about 'the right samples', in most cases I have been using nothing but the Reason factory sound bank, and stuff I can get out of that can sound really smooth or wild (depending on where I want to go with it).

Other then that, glitching sound effects can for instance be created by using the synthesizer modules (subtractor, malstrom and thor (reason4)) pretty easy from the ground up, if you understand what these modules do.

When it comes to dance music, you can also stick with the default drums. the Beltram sets, and XTC sets from the redrum are my favorites on this matter. The big trick to it is 'pitching' the samples right. The bassdrum should be in sync with the highhats in pitch tones. Its all about tweaking the sample.

When it comes to DnB, I have recently noticed compression has most of the effect using the drums. Having some mClass compressor on a bd_nextstep can do wonders.

Anyways, it all really depends on the production type of thing.
