Thought you oughta know how awesome my school is.
We had Clinton (Bill) last semester when Hilary was still campaigning. We had Obama speak here last year. Kerry spoke here in 2004 when he was running.
Now here's the fun part. They decided to stick Biden in a side campus away from the main campus. I wish I had photos of the new campus. It is desolate.
There are two buildings where classes take place at this new campus. I know because all of my classes are out there thanks to the IT department jumping ship to that campus to generate activity out there and ease an overpopulated main campus. There are maybe, maybe at best 1,000 parking spaces out there, compared to 20,000 at the main campus and surrounding areas. And here's where it gets fun.
They decided the event was more important than classes and closed 2/5 of the parking lots to students and faculty. And you might think 'oh well as long as the biggest parking lot is open it'll be ok'. They decided to start re-paving it on Monday. They aren't done yet. How stupid can you be.
And here's the other fun part. This takes place during classes. If I were teaching tonight, I would e-mail my students and say "you know what just don't show up there's no point." The only way for most students to even get to this campus is via shuttle bus, and that will be full of students coming out to see the speech.
So, long story short:
Joe Biden at my school!
...at the podunk meaningless side campus.
...that has no parking to begin with and 3 lots are closed off.
...during the busiest day of the school week.
...in the middle of nowhere.
And for fun I have work tonight and won't be able to see it. Not that I'd go anyway because traffic will be insane.
