    Editing stapmania.ini on Vista

There's an option that makes it so you aren't allowed to edit certain things in program files, you can turn that option off so you can edit that file instead of getting an error message.

To do this, go to: Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control On or Off
Uncheck the box, then you will have to restart your computer for the changes to take affect, do that, and you will now be able to edit your stepmania.ini without getting the error message.

I didn't plan on making this thread, but question keep coming up, and as time goes on, obviously more and more people will have vista, and more and more people will run into this problem.

Or you can simply move the file out of the program files. You'll be able to make changes from there and then simply move it back to the original location.

It might get a little annoying to constantly do this, so it'd be better to turn off UAC.

I used to create a new copy of the .ini on my desktop and then replace it. Pain in the ass this helped.

Ooh true, I'll change the title, my bad >_>
Edit: Now if only I knew how to do that...

Edit: You get an error message saying you something like you aren't allowed to edit this file, admin blah blah, then it closes the file and doesn't save any changes, that's why people don't know how to edit it.

What about TweakUAC? I think that helped me. After you use it, all you have to do is click the red x shield in the bottom right corner and say do not warn me about it, then you're good to go.
