    Standing Up Above The Others

This story is based on the characters from Survival Project (an online game). Their website has shut down for certain reasons. I started this story when I was in elementary school and now I've edited it... Hope you like it!

    CHAPTER 1
Aurelli: I hate you! Leave me alone!
Dad: Studying at home is a better way of spending your time than going to a party with those jerks. Have they ever been nice to you before?
Aurelli: I've already got straight A's, perfect attendence, and I take all honor classes. You won't even let me go to one party! You're ruining my high school experience!
Dad: I'm saving you from embarrassment!
Aurelli: I'm already embarrassed enough by you!

Aurelli slammed her room door and locked it. She went to her bed and slept with angry tears running down her cheeks.

    BEEP! BEEP! BBEP! BEEP!

    Aurelli: Ugh...

Aurelli reached over to her lamp desk and pressed the snooze button. She fell asleep.
Aurelli's father came upstairs with a key and unlocked her door with ease.

Dad: Up and at 'em, Aurelli. You're going to be late for school.
Aurelli: Get out of my room...
Dad: Breakfast is waiting downstairs. I've made pancakes.
Aurelli: GET OUT OF MY ROOM!

Aurelli's father sighed and walked downstairs.
Aurelli lazily walked to her closet and threw on whatever she could get her hands on: jeans and a T-shirt. When she looked in the mirror, she tried to comb through her messy, blonde, bed head hair. Aurelli went downstairs, two steps at a time.

Dad: The pancakes are cold now.
    Aurelli: I don't want pancakes.

She opened the food cabinet and grabbed a granola bar.

    Aurelli: Bye.
Dad: Bye, honey. I love you.

Aurelli walked out the door and headed for school.

    -Cafeteria-
Sasha: I can't believe you missed the party!
Brenda: Yea, it was so much fun.

Aurelli didn't miss the giant bags under the girls' eyes.

Aurelli: Sorry, my dad didn't let me go.
    Brenda: Bummer. Maybe next time.

Brenda exchanged a secret look to Sasha. Sasha grinned.

    Aurelli: What was that?
    Sasha: What do you mean?
    Aurelli: That expression.
Brenda: It's nothing. Don't worry about it.
Sasha: So, when are we going to have the study group again? I really need your help on my math, english, and reading homework.
    Brenda: Yea, me, too.
Aurelli: I don't know. Try to do some on your own.
Sasha: But I'm smarter when you're around.
Aurelli: Um, I need to go to the bathroom.

    Aurelli walks to the bathroom.
Suddenly, the roof started to crumble and fell down, piece by piece.
The students screamed and the teachers tried to communicate through their walkie-talkies.

Mr. Tot: -speaks through walkie talkie- So, what do we do?
Ms. Ginny: Get the students out of the building!
Mr. Tot: Right. About our dinner Saturday night-
    Ms. Ginny: Hurry!!!
Mr. Tot: ALL STUDENTS, PLEASE EVACUATE OUT OF THE BUILDING!

The students headed for the exits, but the doors were blocked by hideous creatures that were definitely not from this planet!

    ???: Attention, everone.

The whole school looked to the stage. A tall, bony, fingure leaned against the wall. He was barefoot and his nails were long and yellow. He wore a midnight cape and had disgusting teeth.

Mr. Tot: What the heck is going on?
???: Shut up, fool. My name is Derrex. Those things you see there that are blocking the exits are my pets. They are called Darkness. One bite from them is absolutely lethal. I suggest you do not upset them. If you look out the windows, your city and soon the entire world will be destroyed and rebuilt to my liking. We are searching for the 10 Chosen Ones.
Mr. Tot: We have a student named Cho Sen. You looking for him?
Derrex: Shut up. We are searching the high schools because they are all sixteen years old. If you bring a Chosen One to me, I will give you eternal life and the honor as working for me for eternity.
Mr. Tot: Oo. So how do we know if someone is a Chosen One?
Derrex: ... Your teacher talks a lot, doesn't he? But that is a good question. A Chosen One will have special abilities and will also have a birthmark. Not a regular one, you see. They look like angel wings and will only show up at certain times... My Darkness will begin searching you NOW. If you're not a Chosen One, we will put you in our dungeon for the time being in Alaska.

    The Darkness sauntered forward.

    -Ladies' Room-
    Aurelli has overheard everything.

Aurelli: I don't want to go to Alaska! There's got to be a way out of here.

Aurelli frantically searches the bathroom and sees a small rectangular window high up.
She goes to the nearest stall to the window and steps on the toilet seat. When she sees the window, there isn't a switch or anything to open it.

Aurelli: Looks like I have to break it.

She searches her purse and nothing is big and strong to break it except...her cell phone?

Aurelli: Well, it'll give me a reason to buy a new one.

She uses her cell phone to hit the window and the glass shatters. Aurelli climbs out and lands safely on the floor.

    Aurelli: I smell smoke?

She looks around and sees that the whole neighborhood is being burned one by one.

    Aurelli: Dad...

Aurelli runs to her house with her hopes near the negatives.
    . . . . . . . . . .

    Chapter 2
When Aurelli reached her house, it was burning just a bit.
She went through the broken front door.

Aurelli: Dad? Dad, are you there?
    Dad: A-Aurelli...?

    His voice was faint.

Aurelli: Dad! Dad, where are you?
    Dad: GET OUT OF HERE!
    Aurelli: What?

Aurelli went to the living room. She found her dad fighting off Darkness. They were trying to bite him.

    Aurelli: Dad!

    Aurelli stepped forward.

    Dad: Stop! Run! Now!
    Aurelli: I-
Dad: What are you waiting for? Run! I'll be okay!
    Aurelli: But-
    Dad: Please!

Aurelli's face crumpled up and she turned back.

    Dad: Wait!
    Aurelli: What?
    Dad: I love you.

One of the Darkness bit her father on his arm.
Aurelli's eyes widened and she ran away.
When she reached her local grocery store, everybody was acting as if nothing had happened.

Aurelli: I guess they haven't reached this part of town yet...

Aurelli gets on the bus and sits in the way back by herself.

Aurelli: I should be happy. My stupid dad is dead. Gone. Forever. He can't tell me what to do. I can eat what I want. I can-

    Aurelli burst into tears.

???: Excuse me, may I sit next to you?

An old lady wearing baggy clothes looked at Aurelli.

    Aurelli: Oh, o-of course.
???: Thank you. My name is Jean.
    Aurelli: I'm A-Aurelli...
Jean: Why are you crying, darling?
    Aurelli: It's nothing.
Jean: I don't tell this to anyone, but... I can tell you some very valuable information.
Aurelli: Who is this creepy lady?!
Jean: I've told everyone before, but they thought I was crazy! Can you believe that?
    Aurelli: Yes. No.
Jean: Now that it's happening, I wonder what they think of me now. -laughs-
    Aurelli: What's happening?
Jean: Have you heard of what happened to Sylva High School?
    Aurelli: I go there.
Jean: Well, then you should know what happened to it. Unless you skipped class today which would probably be a good choice.
    Aurelli: I...I know what happened.
    Jean: We can't stop it.
    Aurelli: What about the army?
Jean: Useless. Bullets wounldn't help a thing.
    Aurelli: Then what would?
Jean: Finally, someone who is actually believing what this old lady has to say... Obviously, the Chosen Ones.
Aurelli: Where are they? Why aren't they coming to help?
Jean: Well, that's their business. Maybe they're lazy or maybe they're scared. Derrex is just going to find them and kill them the second he knows this person is a Chosen One. It's been prophesized the Chosen Ones can stop him.
Aurelli: And anyone who turns in a Chosen One to Derrex will have eternal life.
    Jean: Right.
Aurelli: I think I'm going to try to find the Chosen Ones.

WHACK! Jean swatted Aurelli with her bag.

    Aurelli: What was that for?!
Jean: You're going to turn in the Chosen Ones just to have eternal life? Destroy our only heroes we have?
Aurelli: No! I'm going to drag the Chosen Ones' lazy butts here to fight Derrex!
Jean: Oh. Well, good luck with that. You got the whole world of Anasia to search.

Aurelli gets off the bus at a town named Katan. (Author's Note: I forgot the cities' names, so I'm not sure if it's the right name!)
Katan was a hot and very dry desert.
Aurelli was already sweating when she arrived.

    Aurelli: I need a map...
???: Me, too. I need a map to your heart.

Nice story so far. Simple, but great. Can't wait for more.
My real birthdate is November 6, 1995 but I'm keeping it as '92 for nostalgic reasons. Lol.
