    Lag w/ Geforce8500GT & Stemania

    Ok so I bought this new graphic card a few days ago for a few PC games that needed it. I installed it and haven't changed any settings. It seems to work good with my PC games but WTF! It lags Stepmania hardcore. It surprised me but I know it's probably just a option I need to adjust.

    Any suggestions on the settings I should be using?

      I have the same video card, or one slightly higher, I'd have to check, but I'm not on that computer. It does get lag a tiny bit, it skips a tiny bit every 5 seconds or so, usually restarting stepmania fixes it, try changing options in the graphics menu in SM. vsync off, change display resolution, and other things, test around and see if anything works. I've also heard going into the sound options in stepmania and turning it to normal can fix visual lag, worth a try.

          I have this same card, I get over 500 fps, no lag. I've got everything maxed, vsync off, and sound at high quality.

          Perhaps you are lacking in video RAM/RAM/ processing speed? If not, try turning down some of the options in your graphics menu, such as resolution and texture size.

              Well nothing is working guys. I'm all frustrated about buying something that's supposed to be an upgrade actually really messed my **** up. I'm getting no practice now. I can't play FFR until I get my Stepmania working first! Mhm. Someone here has got to know more about stepmania and this stupid problem.

                  You can always try this, go to all programs then into stepmania then into stepmania tools and package explorer and select game settings and under sound api check waveout, if it doesn't work you can change graphics api aswell.

                      change the sound driver to waveout on windows vista

                      if you're having troubles with XP, switch the graphics from opengl,d3d to d3d,opengl or vice versa
