    BPM / MIDI question

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but...
is there a program out there that can accurately analyze a MIDI for BPM changes? That is, display the BPM at a given time?
I've tried FL Studio, but I know that it often screws up the BPM, and recalculates it...
Does anyone know of a good program? Thanks.

Why don't you convert it to mp3?

      Re: BPM / MIDI question

if its midi, it should come with its own bpm built into the MIDI file...
if not, try Sonic foundry ACID pro 5, it works for me

        Re: BPM / MIDI question

I have this same question, but for an mp3 file.

I think what he's meaning to ask is:

Is there a program that analyzes the song's BPM's entirely. For example, I could put in "Find BPM at 1:26 minute mark," and it would find it. That, or it shows the song and a list of every BPM that it goes to in the song. So if it were a classical piece, which usually has lots of BPM changes, then it would maybe show the song in wave format, or just have a list somewhere, that shows when there is a BPM change, and what it changes to.

This would be an amazing program for stepping files, and would help TREMENDOUSLY for songs with lots of BPM changes. I think that the Mac version of Pro Tools has something like this, but I'm looking for a Windows program, probably like him.

For detecting beats at certain times, in long stretches in music at particlular times, i use beat mapper function on ACID
it can detect the tempo of the music, and show you the beats

As the tempo changes throuhout the music, the program can detect the BPM changes and changes (this can be manually controlled)

or for simple loops, the looping device can map beats and give you an estimate BPM

You can do the same in FL Studio using the Edison audio editor but that looks like a pretty useful program.
