    New song Wave Rip

Just dicked around today after learning a new piano piece.

Me live recording on piano.... though I don't know why I add that I suck XP

Oh yeah, it's Mario Remix. Dire Dire Docks.

Kind of decided to make it a swing mix... who knows why.

I was bored I suppose, but always trying to improve my skills, critique is nice as always

EDIT:: Oh yeah, that. The song.

After listening with fresh ears I'll probably redo most of this ****, but I posted anyways so here we go.

I don't know the original that this was taken from, but at the very start, when you have the 4 chords of 'choir', the 3rd chord has a note that doesn't go well. I think this is carried throughout much of the entire song. I also think it's very purposeful, but I'm not sure it works as well as you'd like. Same for the entire section leading up to the panned pizzicato...some notes don't 'fit' well, always in the 3rd chord of the 4 chord progression. If you're searching for a melody note to fit with a chord progression, and you can't find one that's perfect, never just settle!! If you can't find something you like, consider changing the chord progression itself. Also, if you want something a little different, (which is probably why the melodic note is not always in-sync with the underlying chord), don't just put a non-chord note for the entire duration of that chord...have an off note for only part of it, then when you resolve that dischord, it makes it sound all the more awesome.
At around the 2:25 mark, you decide to change the base note progression, while the melody clearly follows the chord progression which was just used. Again, I think I understand that you change the base line to make it more interesting; however, keeping the melody the same in this case just doesn't work with it.

So, I've been totally critical, however, I really did enjoy listening to it. For a song which is largely just a series of similar 4 chord progressions, all the fluff you add in terms of instruments and sounds, sounds really good to me. (Well, except for those snare drums, but I think that's more just me disliking snare drums in most of the ways they are used.)
My advice to you is to experiment more at the beginning stages of the song creation purely to make sure you've got great notes. Everything else you do sounds great to me.

I really like the pizzicato section

I didn't like the drum solo because it wasn't very inventive and needs more drums and cymbals. I don't know, maybe it was just what you did with the bass drum that I didn't like.

I liked the piano, very jazzy. The quirkiness of it put it in the spotlight for me, which I thought was good.

Overall I really liked the tune (brb playing N64) and thought you did a decent job catching the watery feeling.

I editted it since you guys made the comments, it helped a lot, actually.

I wanted that third chord to have a minor fifth but upon redoing the structure of the song the major triad just makes things far simpler.

Check it out, I'm very proud of how this turned out. It just needs some hours in mastering.

KGZ, shut up. You and I both know that Rhodes is amazing as hell.
I still don't like the drum patch, but I can deal with it.
BTW That Pizz violin sounds totally Aphex.
