    "General Stepmania" board

    FFR really has no formal "General Stepmania" board. The closest thing we have is the Music Game Simulators board, but that encompasses all simulators and not just Stepmania. Also, historically most activity and discussion about SM has happened on the Brag Board--in fact, I would say the Brag Board is the most active SM board on the internet. I have two proposed ideas for this:

    1) Change "Brag Board" to "General Stepmania". In virtually any Stepmania forum it's appropriate for people to post accomplishment topics anyway, so I don't think all of the brag topics would be out of place. Also, as I said before most of the discussion about SM has taken place in the brag board, and that's where most of us developed the attitudes and lingo we use in SM now.

    2) Merge "Music Game Simulators" with "Brag Board" and change that to "General Stepmania". A huge amount of the topics created in Music Game Simulators relate to SM, and most people find it OK to post about other sims on Stepmania boards anyway.

    I think this is a case of formalities (what the board is called, what "should be posted" on the board because of what it's called) trump informalities (the way the board is actually used). If we had a "General Stepmania" board or even "General Stepmania/FFR" board then it would be a lot easier.

      brag board is for brags. and, i'd say well over 50% of the threads in BB are FFR related, not SM related.

      music game simulators is fine for SM discussion (or any other music game sim)... if you want to talk about specific simfiles, use the simulator files subforum of music game simulators.

      edit: and, we do have a general FFR forum. it's called FFR General Talk.

          That's a formality, though. It's "for" that because you make it that way by its name. People brag there, yes, but they also talk about sims within a lot of the threads. The amount of discussion that goes on in MGS is quite low.

              they talk about the sims because people brag about them; even still, it's mostly talking about the scores and the brags, not the sims. YOU choose to spam your propaganda and agenda in there as well because it gets more traffic than music game simulators... and we tend to let it go when it shouldn't be there in the first place.

              edit: and yes... it's "for" brags. that's why it's "called" Brag Board. if it was "for" general stepmania discussion... i'td be "called" general stepmania discussion.

                  Wow, you don't need to describe my posts there in the worst way you can think of. I don't "spam my propaganda and agenda in there", I use it the way it's always been used. It's not like I haven't been to this site before.

                  YOU choose to spam your propaganda and agenda in thereas well because it gets more traffic than music game simulators... and we tend to let it go when it shouldn't be there in the first place.
                  The amount of traffic MGS gets is extremely low. Have you posted there much? A single topic on BB can get the amount of posts MGS gets in a day.

                      I agree with the suggestion of a "General Stepmania" board, but that does not mean we should get rid of the Brag Board; it should stay.

                                  Why did you post this? This is irrelevant to this topic and just says "look at my ability to be an admin." The majority of Stepmania players here go to brag board and if you weren't so concerned with formalities and a transparent desire to take potshots at me due to an old grudge you could see that. This is really immature, Tass.

                                  The same applies for you, Izzy. You blatantly wander into my threads to post your disapproval of me when it's quite obvious you're still mad at me even though I'm a much different person than I used to be and don't hold any negative feelings toward you and have even defended you on ODI a few times.

                                          Not really. SM is an extension of FFR and many of the features on FFR have been modeled after SM. FFR today wouldn't be what it is without SM. Many of the best SM players are also the best FFR players.

                                              Agreed. There's easily enough Stepmania discussion to warrant its own board.

                                                  Arch, I posted that to let you know that I was actually listening to my own commentary and acting upon it. Brag Board is NOT the proper place for general SM discussion. Music Game Simulators is. Post your stuff there. And the "majority of SM players" who "go to Brag Board" go there to POST THEIR BRAGS. I don't ever go in the SM Scores thread (since I don't ever play SM, so I don't post scores, so I don't really care about scores that others post... I don't know the files), so I wouldn't know what happens there.

                                                  What I do know is that I just looked over the topics on the 1st few pages of Brag Board... and what would you know? They're ALL BRAGS. Mostly for FFR. Some for SM... one or two for ITG or other stuff.

                                                  BB is primarily a place for the brags on FFR, but it is open for brags about anything. It isn't meant to be a place for discussion. It has become, to a small extent, a place for discussion about files... generally as the result of someone posting a brag about the file. I think your view of BB is really slanted. And yes, you have been to the site before... but before 2-3 weeks ago, you hadn't in years.
