-The tournament itself takes place 10AM - 6PM on Saturday (July 11) and 10AM - 6PM on Sunday (July 12). 8 - 10AM on all three days will be for early practice and set-up.

-Thursday is an all-day free-play practice.

    . . .

In response to some questions about the prize fund for the event, this is what we currently have bracketed:

    1st Prize Expert Technical: $1,000 - Guaranteed
2nd Prize Expert Technical: 50% of Entry Fee's, up to $500
3rd Prize Expert Technical: 20% of Entry, up to $200
4th Prize Expert Technical: 10% of Entry, up to $100

    ---------------------------------

1st Prize Consolation Swiss: 50% of Swiss Entry / Remaining General Entry, up to $500
2nd Prize Consolation: 20% of Swiss Entry / Remaining General, up to $200
3rd Prize Consolation: 10% of Swiss Entry / Remaining, up to $100

    ---------------------------------

With 64 entering competitors we would reach full prizes. Less competitors means less prizes, but the first prize expert technical is always guaranteed, even if only one person entered.

Financially, SoCal players put up the $1,000 together, entry fee's pay for other prizes and I am paying for all tournament related expenses (like ballroom space, machine rental)

-From a competitive (earnings) standpoint, you should probably expect between 2 - 4 prizes to cover travel expenses from most parts of the United States. If you think you have a reasonable chance of placing in the top 2 - 4 places you should probably come.

-In any event, the tournament is going to be a really large-scale community event. Lots of after-tournament round-tables and discussions, and lots of community stuff. I hope everyone has a great time!

    . . .

For those inquiring about how many are likely to show up, the answer is that I don't really know. About twenty people have absolutely 100% confirmed attendance, so I think forty competitors is certainly a very attainable and reasonable estimate (three prizes will cover travel expenses with forty). I think that would be kind of a low estimate. We could get a lot more if a lot of people who are thinking about coming show up for sure, we could get a massive tide of people depending on local advertising (which is always very fickle).
Although it's primarily pad-centered I'm sure if someone brought their laptops we could get some entertaining FFR matches going.

I'm 100% going because I already have plane tickets purchased and can't back out. Can anyone else from FFR come?
