Permission to use images from FFR?

    Hey people

I'm working on a project to make a program with a gameplay as similar as possible to FFR R1, that can play SM files (that includes freezes, holds, mines, etc.). I don't know when it'll be finished or even if I'll ever be able to do it, don't expect anything, but if I get it to work properly I'd like to spread it using a Creative Commons license (attribution, noncommercial). The point is, I want to make it look just like FFR, so I'm using its images. Is that allowed or will I have to draw the pics myself?

I doubt you'd be allowed to use images off of FFR R1 or anything from this site.

You are best off designing your own unique game that's 100% made by you.

I know it's unlikely, but it never hurts to ask, does it?

Well at least you asked. Wait for an admin to reply.

Wait wait, let me get this straight. You're trying to make an FFR clone that plays Stepmania files. You know, something a bit like Stepmania except online, which would just be SMO or FFR anyway.

So really, what exactly are you making that's new here?

I'm not really making anything that's new really. It's just that I like the FFR gameplay a lot more than Stepmania's gameplay, but hate having to wait for songs to load all the time on FFR (slow internet). Also, I like a programming challenge. So yeah, it's an FFR clone playing Stepmania files. It won't actually be online though, I don't have a server that's good enough.

Also, if I don't get permission, I simply won't spread it, I'm not really good at making my own images and such...

You realise that's copyright infringement, right?

I mean if anyone let any of it spread to someone at FFR then you could be in for a hell of a lot of trouble. Especially as you would need a website to have this FFR clone then it could quite possibly be found.

Have fun losing all your money and possessions over "a programming challenge".

I would recommend creating your own artwork, or finding someone to do it for you.

Yes, if it'd be put online, it would be. But I can download the artwork, right? In fact, I have to to play the game.

No one will, because I wouldn't spread it.

It's going to be a windows program, not flash. It doesn't need a website or anything. It'd be spreading if it would've needed it, I'm not that stupid.

But, like Tass said, I'll just fail at making my own art if I ever want give it to anyone
