Can someone please explain to me and give an example of pitch relevance? I'm making a simfile and i can't seem to figure out exactly how to use it.

High notes on the right, low notes on the left.
Most (good) piano sims use fairly strict PR. The Games we Played is probably one of the better known examples.Comment

Re: pitch relevance
Let's say you have a melody. If some of the pitches are higher than the others, step those melodies more over to the right or something. Assuming you understand this (which I really hope you do), pretend the song you're stepping has some (ascending order) D-E-F#-G part in it- you could make that a 4286 roll (left-to-right). You can sometimes do the opposite and have a descending pattern for an ascending melody, but that only works in very special occasions, as it can be quite awkward at times.
GLoVE's gym is basically
itch relevancy: IIRC. If you have like a varying melody and you put straight 8th jumps to it, that's like not PR at all. Also, pitch relevancy can often break the flow of a file- try to avoid doing this while retaining as much PR as possible. For example, take you're stepping a :metal: song and the guitar is like dun dun dun :spamming the e-string:, keeping that as a jack is not exactly a good idea if it's fast.

Re: pitch relevance
Just a little bit of friendly advice... pitch relevance isn't always a good thing. It's technically correct, sure, but it can make for some awkward and really annoying files. Just use it wisely.Originally posted by knuckles2224What's does a mental block look like? Is it a bear?Comment
