How do you play "heel and toe?" on DDR?

How do you do it? I've heard that that's how all of the really good DDR/ITG players play but, I just can't do it! The hardest song I've ever passed was Xepher on Challenge and just BARELY! And yes.. I bar raped... sorry to say...

But, I really want to get better but not if I can't figure out how to get better... please help!

Use your toes to hit the up and your heels to hit the down. You should only have half your foot on a pad when youre hitting it. The other half should be over the metal center plate.

It minimilises movement so you can move faster and conserve your stamina.

I think it's VERY hard to play heel and toe on ddr, because the pads are often ****ty and not so sentitive than itg pads.

You have to train a lot, and maybe change your footwook. Do you have some video of you playing ddr ? (for see is there is something wrong with your footwork).

Ehehe yes. If one day you have some video of you playing, put this here.
I think some players can give some advise for you ^^

You really shouldn't have to heel toe for DDR.

And, as said before, it would be really hard.

In an ITG pad there are more sensors than a DDR pad. When you heel toe you go for the innermost sensors with the tips of your feet.

Essentially you can just rock back and forth and hit all of the arrows.

Heel toe is gay. I whored songs like F3r sure, heaven, air, etc. for stamina and speed. Also bracket breaking is gay too.

Heel-toeing regular DDR/ITG charts is pretty stupid however for certain parts in custom songs, heel-toe is necessary. Or take Love Fighter Oni for example; now imagine playing that whole song on ITG without heel-toeing whatever. It pretty much requires you to heeltoe unless you want to go down on all 4 arrows and randomly hit notes.

Also, I'm pretty sure the original poster was talking about flatfooting/minimalizing foot movement rather than ACTUAL heel-toe anyway.

Check my avatar =D No bar either. Just a thick pad.

As to heel-toe, I've never really tried it. You're probably fine with just more practice.

You don't need to Heel toe to become good. Just practice.
I can pass some pretty hard songs on ITG without heel-toeing. I hope I don't go to jail for rape... bar rape.

If you're a decent ITG player, just accept the fact that bar raping isn't bad. ALL of the amazing ITG players do it (except for Mad Matt, holy crap XD)--WinDEU does it, TheCosmicPope, Rynker, all of the best.

                      I learned to heel-toe from WinDEU, tee-hee.

Heel-toe strategy is great for doing long, and painful stamina songs, cause you can play to recover. Basically saying, you can be heel-toeing lazily, your health drops, and then when you hit low health, you do non heel-toeing so that you can get back to a comfortable life-bar level.

Ugh, I need to pass Dokudenpa on pad, my legs hate me. D:

Heel toe is good for not raping the bar. Check out some of matts no bar vids on youtube. He is probably the best non bar player I have ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=Sigatrev
Check out some of his vids for watching his style. There is one where he shows a good heel toe stance. As for DDR heel toe, its really hard to do because of the brackets around the panels. They are much closer to the panels on ddr. ITG the brackets are higher and let you rock better.

Found a good one. Enjoy and have fun!

I bar rape. I played at Naperville, Illinois until Rynker ****ed up the machine in a different town. BZ had to take away Naperville's machine so I stopped playing because the drive was too far.

And yeah, heel toe is never NEEDED. Neither is flat footing. I've seen people play ridiculous songs on their toes.

Dear god doing hard songs without a bar sure looks retarded though. I bar rape all the time mainly because I have crappy stamina and stamina is the only thing holding me back from doing a lot of things right now. I'm going to start playing again in the summer.

As for Heel-to-toe, it helps your stamina and speed and in general is a good thing to do. It pretty much just requires practise when you get the technique right. Watch video's on how others do it and try to recreate it off a pad so next time your on a pad you won't forget how to do it.

I guess that you are right... I should've put flatfooting and making feet move less instead of heel/toe but I thought that heel toe was how they did it... anyone have some helpful youtube vid that shows how to do this? (flatfooting?)
