    Rock Revolution

    Click

Konami's take on the rock rhythm game. It looks all right I guess. The drums are pretty cool in my opinion, but I just wish there weren't three different sets out, I'm not going to buy a new one for one game. Everything else is same old same old. Except this:

"Players on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii will also be able to spend their off-hours in Jam Mode. While Jam Mode was not displayed at the event, it will enable players to create and record up to 8 separate tracks of their own in a multi-track studio. If successfully realized, this feature may be the key to distinguishing Rock Revolution from its competitors."

Yeah that would be pretty cool. Thoughts?

oh yeah they should have called it Rock Rock Revolution
    yeaorwgh.

      Your link doesn't work.

      Edit: Trying for this?

Edit2: I wonder if they'll get their usual artists to make some rock...

      Edit3: I'm betting no.

Konami's take on the rock rhythm game.
Dude, Konami invented the genre. GuitarFreaks and Drummania were out LONG before Guitar Hero or Rock Band. This is just a different take on the concept, presumably because they didn't think their formula for Guitar Freaks and Drummania was a good match for America (and they'd be right to think that). The reason Guitar Hero and Rock Band has been successful in America is not just due to the game, but even moreso on it's songs. Americans don't want to rock out to B4U, they want to rock out to Black Hole Sun.

If successfully realized, this feature may be the key to distinguishing Rock Revolution from its competitors.
If the people behind Rock Band have a brain in their head, a sequel to Rock Band would have this feature as well. And Guitar Hero 4 may yet have such a feature themselves, and if not, it would surely come in the next Guitar Hero after that.

Also: DAMNIT I WANT A BETTER DRUM KIT YOU ******S I DONT WANT ONE OF THOSE STUPID ASS SINGLE PART THINGS WHERE ALL OF THE PADS ARE IN LINE WITH EACH OTHER I WANT TO FEEL LIKE IM ACTUALLY PLAYING A SET.

The "make your own song" thing was already announced for GH4, so it really won't distinguish much from them. Harmonix will probably implement that as well if they decide to release RB2, or as a downloadable feature.

lol... i've known about this for over 2 months now. and Afro is completely right. and this will fail hardcore. Konami has no idea what it is doing when trying to play towards an American audience, and are unwilling to let the people who work in this country do what needs to be done to make it successful for an American audience. Instead, they're too set in their Japanese ways. pity, really.

Those two features are vastly different if my understanding is correct. The Konami game will be more of a jam-mode, in which charts can be recorded and music be created on the fly. The Guitar Hero one I thought was a "record music, then WRITE a chart for it". Think of it like the difference between playing a song on a play instrument and being able to play that song again later, to creating a chart much like one would write steps in Stepmania.

Remember: MY UNDERSTANDING OF IT. I may very well be mistaken.

Actually, Tass, I think they're taking a step in the right direction here, but it's too little too late. The market is already saturated with Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and Konami is gonna be seen as a third wheel even though if not for them Harmonix probably would have never made Guitar Hero in the first place. The games are all basically the same at this point, and there's no real way to effectively stand out. At this point, I'd say they need to shoot for label exclusives and go with instrument standards across the board. But they'd never do that.

PS guys: All of their songs they revealed so far are covers. I don't think they'll release master tracks at all.

And I posted this in the Rock Band thread in like a week or two weeks ago.
