Something new for Sonic fans to talk about- Sonic Unleashed

First of all, this thread is for discussing the new game, and this post will be about the known info of the game, until I break off and say my opinion.

Recently, I've found out about the new Sonic game in development that's going to be released this winter (that is, if it's not delayed). Or should I say, unleashed this winter, because of the name Sonic Unleashed (yeah I hate puns). It will be released on all three of the major platforms, and Sonic Team is making the game for PS3 and X-Box 360, while the creators of Sonic Rush, Dimps, are making the Wii version. Apparently, the Wii version will have different levels (probably the same areas) from the Sonic Team Version.

This much of the story released so far-
The game opens as Dr. Eggman manages to shatter the world into seven pieces. Only be gathering the chaos emeralds can Sonic reunite it, but there's a twist. Sonic has an "unusual situation" (more on that later) as the new day/night system kicks in...

    Gameplay so far-
Stages this time will focus more on 2-D movement, like the old Sonic games, and occasionally the camera moves behind Sonic like in Sonic and the Secret Rings. A rumor indicates that you'll also be able to play as Knuckles and Tails in the game. It is also known that the Wii version will have more 2-D sections than the other versions, but because the title was only confirmed on April 3rd, the only things that are concrete are what the teaser and sreenshots tell, besides the giant budget that is being poured into this game.

The "unusual situation" Sega has mentioned so many times....
Come on, guess! Please? ...yeah I know you've wanted to know by the time you read all of the above (or since you read the pun/saw the quotes and skipped to this section), but you can't just expect me to tell straight off... ok ok...
This has to be the weirdest thing they've done to the Sonic series so far. Nearly all of the details aren't known at all yet, but sometime during the game (probably the beginning) Sonic is infected (somehow) with lycanthropy. For those of you who don't know what that is, Sonic is a werewolf...or...um...a hedgewolf. This has been confirmed through a picture and an official teaser trailer. This form will obviously move slower than normal Sonic, and will have the ability to destroy obstacles instead of dodging them. The day and night system directly influences this, and a new combat system has been made for it.

misc stuff- this game was originally going to be Sonic Adventure 3
    - the late two games of the series, Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic the Hedgehog (X-Box/PS3) are going to be completely disregarded and it will be like those storylines never happened in this game.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have some pretty mixed feelings about the game, such as, how'd they ever come up with that idea? I like the story and the way they're doing the levels this time, but the hedgewolf thing is pretty weird for the Sonic universe, especially since he's already an animal. They'll probably somehow make it work, but all I can do now is guess.
The X in my name stands for nothing whatsoever.

Hmm...Seems pretty interesting. I'm not sure what to say about the whole "hedgewolf" deal, but maybe it will be cool. I'll probably check it out when it's available. Thanks for the info.

I've saw a little preview of this in a magazine I read today, and it looks totally awesome. Seems like 2-D platforming fans are getting their prayers answered (it's not entirely 2-D playing of course).
