    Sound Quality

So I've recently began downloading a certain television show on my computer for personal use. The quality of this show is exquisite. The sound quality isn't. It's too too low.
Would anyone know a certain program that could increase the sound quality of these videos?
These videos are in .rmvb format (Real Video Variable Bitrate).
What should I do in general?
Any advice would be very appreciated.

    Re: Sound Quality

There's no way if the sound quality of the "original video file" is bad.

Firstly, if Media is anything the same as Music Production, I don't think you should be posting about 'downloading a certain television show'. Secondly, for personal use? The just makes it even more sketch.

But anyways. I'm not sure about video files to be completely honest. I know with .mp3 files, there's a program called "MP3 Gain" which will increase the overall volume of the file, but it typically makes the quality worse while it makes the sound louder. You can also achieve the same results if you know how to work FLStudio, Audacity, etc.

Maybe use the awesome powers of Google to see if there is a similar program for video files? Granted, you'll probably get the same results. The louder you make it, the more quality you will lose.

*EDIT: Here's a method to do so in .AVI files, but that doesn't help you unless you find a way to convert .RMVB to .AVI. (Which isn't an impossible task. The codecs for doing so are all over Google.)

        Re: Sound Quality

Like jimerax said, you cannot take a sample of sound and raise its quality. Every time you convert any sample of sound, whether in a movie or not, the quality is degraded, even if you "increase" the quality on your next conversion.

Also, maybe by quality you mean volume, in which case there are ways to turn it up like Draigun said, but again, you will lose some quality every time you reconvert.
