    DnB Test

Was trying out some DnB. This is what I got in under 20 minutes of work. If anyone would like me to finish this song / attempt more DnB, tell me. (Just want to know if this is my style, I'm constantly trying to find my own unique style...)

    Re: DnB Test

Sounds half-decent for a first shot. Don't run away with too many of these "tests" though.

    Here are some tips:
-Always have a melody, supporting instrument(s), and bassline, and avoid using what I like to call a "false bassline." A false bassline is when the melody tends to have a fair amount of low notes, making it seem like there's a bassline.
-Find a few friends who are musically skilled and/or producers themselves and send your test-runs to them in addition to asking advice. Personally, I think I bug the **** out of KgZ and /DJS\, but they don't have the heart to say it.
-I like the fact that you're trying to find your own style, but (while I'm not making reference to the test you just posted) remember not to sacrifice the music quality for it.

Well, as you can see, I post on newgrounds, and I DO know a few people on newgrounds, but the only problem is that I don't know any DnB artists personally, I AM trying to contact some though. Also, would you be able to detail your explanation of the "fake bassline" and whatnot? It's a bit confusing.

I left you a post in the newgrounds forum

P.S: i'm sure KGZ and DJS hate everyone equally Texan don't feel too bad.

Someone told me that my song is more Breakbeat than DnB. Is that true?

Why avoid it? That can be used to amazing effect if done well.

Are you implying that radical originality is a negative artistic attribute?

A good example is "Still Wasted" by Korsakoff.

That's the way that I interpreted the advice that KgZ gave me.

No. I'm saying that if he tries to create somewhat of a style that doesn't please his audience, that's a big no-no.

That is his purpose of posting here, along with many other artists including myself: To appeal to an audience.

Not necessarily. He could be trying to perfect a genre he's new to, but that doesn't necessarily mean he wants the audience to be pleased by it. He's looking for feedback on his song to make it better- better doesn't always mean that he's just trying to make people like his music.

                              Though it could.
