    [High School - Algebra] Quadratic Equations

    I need help with this question. I'm not sure how to start it off. Any help will be greatly apperciated:
    Find the solutions to the following equation algebraically, and verify your solution(s).

    0 = 3 - squareroot (x-3)
    screw this

    Re: High school Jr. Algebra Quadratic Equations

    I'M REALLY BORED.

    Step 1: 0=3-sqrt(X-3) Subtract 3 from both sides.
    Step 2: -3=-sqrt(X-3) Square both sides.
    Step 3: 9=-X+3 Subtract 3 from both sides.
    Step 4: 6=-X Multiply both sides by -1 to find X.
    X=-6

    This is probably right lol.

    EDIT: Lol, I took this last year in 7th grade.

      dunno where you got that negative in step 3

      0=3-sqrt(x-3)
      -3=-sqrt(x-3)
      9=x-3
      12=x

            Here's a bit of a more in-depth explanation

            0 = 3 - root(x-3) ------------ Given in problem
            -3 = -root(x-3) ------------ Subtract three from each side
            9 = x-3 --------------------- Square each side (the -root is irrelevant in terms of squaring, as it just denotes the negative square root rather than the positive, and ends up squaring to the same thing)
            12 = x ---------------------- Add three to both sides.

              Lol. I had 12 as my first answer, then I did it and got -6 for some reason. If I had done it on paper, I probably would've gotten it.
