    Sliced or Custom Beats?

I feel like its kinda cheating to use a slicer and slice up some loop you didnt make and use it in your songs, but everyone seems to do it, especially for drum n bass. I feel more accomplished at the end of the song if I had made the loop myself, with only single instrument samples, then kept it or sliced it from that point. I was curious, do you guys use your own custom made loops or do you slice up one you found on the internet?

also i just made this song using a loop that isnt mine for the first time. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/124995

Great song TK_Breed. I love all types of music including your funky techno tracks. No matter what you use, you can be a successful person someday. You just need to believe in yourself.

Well, in music the end justifies the means, as a rule of thumb.

The reason most people used sliced beats is they're from actual drumset players, and a lot of one shots you'll download tend to be pulled from recordings and slices then processed.

Using slices also gives you hits that flow together a lot more smoothly.

If you look at most professional DnB producers or any other producer that emphasizes drums, you'll hear sliced beats with one shots overlaying those.

Just remember it's not the sample it's what you do with it, defintely don't feel guilty about your end product. DnB and Jungle were MADE using the amen break.

A lot of DnB artists actually use literal drum sets and bass guitars

i mean just look at DFA1979 lololol

In all seriousness, there's honestly nothing too wrong with it. I just couldn't imagine music without the think break. I use it way too much but the tambourine... is hypnotizing.
