    A Question Regarding Buzz

Hey guys. After many long, miserable years with my dinosauric, ancient computer, I've finally replaced it with a quad-core. Only thing is, it seems to be as slow or slower than my old computer..and it shows. Buzz still crashes on loadup. [And yes, I do have Vista, I strongly suspect that is the crux of the problem]. But other than that, there is no reason Buzz should be crashing so much. (Btw, my mom's single-core 3.2 Ghz computer runs Buzz just fine.) Does anybody have more insight into this than I do? Thanks for any help regarding this subject! (And yes, I am desperate to begin composing music. )

I have no clue why it would act like that, but everything bad is always vista's fault.
    one hand, no mercy...

Omfg....yeah I suspected it was Vista. But that sucks balls. I have about four songs, completely ready to compose, all stored in my head. I just need to find a program..and Buzz can't support Vista. And I can't afford to buy a music program....grr. Time to install it on my mom's computer...

P.S. I know Buzz is prone to crashing while in operation, but that's a different story.

I don't blame Vista for everything. But a lot of programs aren't supported by Vista at the moment, and I presumed that was the issue. And it was.

Does anybody know when a patch is coming out for Buzz that'll give support for Vista? I didn't see anything at buzzmachines.com, except for a poll on which OS you use...

Try running it in compatibility mode.

Can you please tell me how to do that? If it crashes on loadup, I don't see how I could get to do that.

P.S. Sorry for sounding like a noob. I'm very new to Buzz, and I only got 2 minutes to look at it before I had to uninstall it from my mom's computer....

I found it, nevermind. And, of course, it crashes even faster then before. And considering it crashes on loadup, that is reeeeal bad. > I may have to overclock my PC to get it to work...

                Re: A Question Regarding Buzz

Buzz does crash here and there for me, but it was never that big a problem. And even with the bugginess, I still think it's just too powerful a program to discard and refuse to let go of it.

Something I had noticed though was a period where it would crash on start up for me.

I ended up rectifying the problem with a makeshift hack on the assumption it was a type of windows pathing error. I put a song file in the buzz directory and opened it through explorer, which in turn loaded up buzz. That seemed to fix everything. Sometimes the OS would revert and mess it up and I would just have to open it up again that way and it would correct for a while.

My forecast for it helping your particular issue is running on a low success rate since you're running vista, but it is the best advice I can give.

Oh my god! I finally got it to work! After switching to Compatibility mode for Windows 98, it works! For those running Vista, do that, and it should work. I'm gonna be up for quite a while composing music...woot!
