    DARDENNE PRAIRIE, Mo. — Megan Meier thought she had made a new friend in cyberspace when a cute teenage boy named Josh contacted her on MySpace and began exchanging messages with her. Megan, a 13-year-old who suffered from depression and attention deficit disorder, corresponded with Josh for more than a month before he abruptly ended their friendship, telling her he had heard she was cruel. The next day Megan committed suicide...

          damn. thats all i have to say. oh and the fact that myspace should set up an age limit on their site to prevent crap like that from happening

                                      yeah, people pretend to people they're not on the internet. get over it.
                                      if your son/daughter would kill themselves over a myspace person they never met, then they should.

                                              That's the definition of a scam, which, while you gain nothing from it, it is legal. When you start to gain something, it becomes illegal. If I went online and pretended to be a cute boy (huhu i am a cute boy) and got money off a girl, that would be illegal.

                                              If I went online and badgered my daughter's suicidally depressed enemy until she killed herself by gaining her confidence and then betraying her, then that would be illegal.

                                              The mother should be kicked in the goddamned throat for doing something like that.

                                                  A lot of people lie about their age on MySpace. I'm surprised a lawsuit of any kind hasn't been made against MySpace.
