Let's put it this way (Here comes my long speech):

Harder: Well, technically, you can't rate rhythm games on their difficulty, only the songs. I'd say, and I'm sure people would agree, that Guitar Hero 3 inhibits much more complex chords and riffs because of the fact that they wanted the change some aspects of the previous games. From Guitar Hero 2 to 3, you'll see much more old songs and many other interesting songs from the present. so really, harder, I'd say Guitar Hero 3 only because it has many more harder songs like "Take This Life by In Flames" and Through Fire and Flames by Dragonforce".

Better:I'd say simple Guitar Hero 3, because, again I say, it contains many more interesting songs. It's simple really. You beat the game, you win money you play your rewards, but In order to unlock more songs, you have to defeat the game in Co-op mode, which is a very fun and interesting twist. Now you've gone from flying through the game solo to actually having a band mate (Member, same thing!). I found that some song that sounded really stupid and retarded in the store turned out to be really good songs. For example, the song Generation Rock by Revolverheld and Hier Kommt Alex by Die Toten Hosen ("The Dead Trousers") were really stupid because they put a crappy sample to listen too and it was is German, so you couldn't understand it. Once I played it, it was awesome. don't get me wrong, Guitar Hero 2 is a good game, but clearly, Guitar Hero 3 offers a greater variety of genres.

Harder=gh2, since hammer ons are really hard to read or hit

Better/funner=gh3, better quality, more and better songs, hammer ons are much funner and easier to read.

I have both games, along with 80's edition.

Urgh...tough one....GH2 has Trogdor, Sweet Child O' Mine, Them Bones, and Duncan Hills Coffee...GH3, the only song I know of is When You Were Young, but that makes them even.......

The X-Box version has Duncan Hills. The PS2 version has Thunderhorse, =/

The buyable songs from GH3 are awesome.
But the "story mode" songs from GH2 are awesomer.

Personally I think GH3 Because I own it. Almost beat Hard... I can't do Number of the Beast, One, or Raining blood they really get me stuck. I cant get the beat in Number of the beast
