There is not going to be some big release.
The current version of FFR is little by little going to become R3.
They are just going to keep adding stuff. And it will just be known as R3 one day.Comment

ps it's 3rd Style, you dunderheads. There is no such thing as "R3", and if there was, it would be either a separate game from R1 and R2, or it would replace R2. It's like this:
It started out as just FFR. It was orange and weird and boos broke your combo. Then there was Remix, now known as Remix1 (R1). This has evolved into what we now have. Shortly after Remix was put out, things were buzzing for a Remix2. It took a long time thanks to multiple rewrites or something, in addition to people dropping out of major development and bringing in new people. When it was finished, it was so vastly different from the current game that they opted to keep the old game in addition to the new one. R2, in reality, plays almost like a flash version of Stepmania, while the old version has a very different feel, even after R1 received updates such as dizzy, blind, and even speed mods. I believe it was at the point where it was decided that R1 would not be replaced by R2 that a major overhaul for the main game was planned. It was deemed as 3rd Style (due to being the 3rd major version of the main game) and has been in development for quite some time now. Personally, I feel as though this 3rd Style will be what R2 was planned to be a very long time ago... a major update for the main game that will add many useful features, while still simply building on what we already have in order to maintain the FFR feel.Last edited by Afrobean; 11-4-2007, 08:46 PM.

If this version is going to become 3rd style.... doesn't that make playing this version pointless? Unless everything isn't going to be wiped out. Because I can pretty clearly remember the discussion about which files would be "carried over" to 3rd style, so if we're going to lose a bunch of levels now, please tell me which ones and I just won't play those.Comment

It will be an entirely new engine. As a matter of fact, I can tell you the 3rd style engine will be coded entirely in AS3 which will make the code execution approximately 20x faster than Resonance.
It's a matter of money and it's a matter of talent and we are getting closer by the day.
