People screencut before speed mods were implemented. There isn't much point in screencutting AND speedmods.

Using both is useful because there's not a lot of options of speedmods. I would play with something like 1.9x, but I have to put 1.75x and screencut a little. You can also shrink a pixel more everyday and you will get faster reading. It really helped me.Comment

yeah screen cutting was the 'speed mod' before there were speed mods, so to speak.
up until literally last week, i was an old fashioned 1x screen-cutter (i cut just to where you can't see the little word 'combo'), but i've bumped up my speed mod and lowered my cut since then, and i've AAA'd like 7 songs within the last week, so it seems like it helps.
basically, doing them both at the same time is crazy...one or the other is usually sufficient, with using just speed mods probably being your best choice because they open up the song patterns and become easier to read.Last edited by foilman8805; 10-18-2007, 05:05 PM.Comment

Speed mods helped me immeasurably to improve. Screencutting just made me fail miserably. Amusingly, since they are supposed to accomplish much the same thing (giving you less time to see each note) I guess the reason why one worked and the other didn't is that my problem wasn't wanting less time to see each arrow, but seeing each arrow as more seperate and distinct.Comment

screen cut without speedmod generally commits less lag and gives better pa.
