I've been a member of this site for two and a half years. I am closing in on 3,000 posts so far as of now. And to be honest, postcount is something I could care less about. As the time rolled on, I began to care less and less at how much those numbers were going up per day.
It took me a little while to think about this thing, and suddenly an answer hit me. Something in the forum code to make an option to turn on/off your postcount display. I was talking to Tasslefoot on AIM about this, and he informed me of other potential changes to the under-avatar statistics, including average rank, overall rank, and other various FFR-related stats for people to show off. Although to those who play the game even casually, this would not be much of an issue, but I know that there are many forum-goers who come to this site specifically just to post on the forum, and could care less about the basis of the site itself.
One of the things I've noticed about anyone with at least two thousand posts or greater is that they have a distinct influence over those who have sub-100. I've seen, tried, and done it myself, abusing the "my postcount is high so I have seniority over people who never come here". We have the three basic titles for those who don't pay for an account, are a moderator/admin, or other various ways of getting a custom title. The three, Junior member, Member, and Senior Member, give users a fairly good idea about how much a person knows about the forum, and who they should take into consideration for advice.
So if it would be possible to write in an option for those members who simply don't care about postcount, such as myself (and I'm certain there are many others out there with the same mentality as me), it would be highly appreciated. I know that customization is one major attraction to this site for many, and if just one simple edit to the code would be possible, it would make it that much interactive.
