A song I wrote (Not your typical stuff)

Here's a song I wrote, there's no numeric pattern, but I tried to make rhymes... It's about Atlantis, as you can see, originally written for my power metal band, but I figured it was too cheesy and none of the songs fitted the mood anyways. Here it is:

    -------------------------------

Standing in the shadows of the past
    You shimmer in my memories
A glance at the yet gone so fast
    A souvenir of the tragedies

Like a glitch in the flow of time
    My glory, fame and renown
A flash at the once sublime
What had fallen.. was my crown

    --refrain---
    Atlantis, sunken city
In the depths of the sea
    Forever lost in the dark
    Nothing left but it's mark
    ---end refrain---

My pride for you I expressed
    From these scaffolds of stone
Upon which my empire laid rest
Under the orders of the throne

But in a single day and night
    My whole future and past
    Was vanished out of sight
    My people laid aghast

Not to be found ever again
I laid at the bottom of the ocean
    No option of bargain
    There, a forgotten nation
