    music question

This is for my dad who loves metal music but hates the heavy vocals and the screaming. He asked me if there was any way to isolate the music from the vocals so that you only hear the instruments playing and none of the vocals. Any help on this would be great.

    Re: music question

There are equalization processes you can do that will get you some results, but it's by no means a perfect process, and there's no simple formula as each vocalist has a different voice. The vocals are simply quieted though, and major parts of the music itself are also affected.

I think it was Spook who made a metaphor for this a long time ago. Vocals in an audio file are like eggs in a baked cake. You can't remove them with any form of success.

Your dad's best bet is to just look for metal artists who use clean vocals.

I've done that before. This page should be helpful http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help...=remove-vocals

The result is not always ideal but is an improvement to say the least.
