There's probably some technical babble on SM I wouldn't know about. 200+BPM just seems a hell lot easier to combo on SM than FFR.

no framers in sm
if you have a 424 in ffr at 200bpm, like in vertex beta for example, you can hit the two 4's and its like a jack and youll get the avmiss
in sm, no problems with jacks, framers, anythingComment

Ledwix basically summed it up.
In FFR, there is no average frame preceding a note, which makes it slightly harder to combo if you hit late. Additionally, when you encounter jacks, depending on the framegap, your combo'ing window can be limited all the way up to the average frame.
SM also runs more smoothly, due to the higher framerate. Plus, because there is more playing area (frames/pixels), the visuals for each note is truer to its actual position in time.Comment
