    FFR Velocity tinkering...

I've been venturing out of my comfort zone with computing as of late and discovered I can decompile SWF files. This got me thinking, "can't I restore functionality to the old Flash Flash Revolution clients?"

The answer is a resounding... maybe. So far I've gotten further than it'll load right off the cuff these days, and it *tries* to load the news, but that's about it right now. At least it launches, right?

Dunno if I'll update this, ActionScript's never been my forte.

day two of tinkering is going relatively well. trying to convince one of my webdev buddies to help out with piecing together either a stand-in or a rough approximation of what the old login php would've done.
either way, i've walked into this thinking it'd be real easy, but nope. it is not. at least actionscript's really easy to figure out, so i'm learning something i guess!
i'll probably update this post eventually when my friend gets back to me, for now i'm just gonna stick to R^3.

The Velocity engine was built from a decompile of the Legacy engine at the time. Most of the reason the older engines were disabled was due to having to use flashvars for the back and forth with the server instead of json which was much more error prone.
