What happens to you when you play FFR/SM?

Do you ever notice anything weird you do when you play a song? Well, I do. Post here what happens to your various body parts (no, not that one you perverts), and why you think you do that.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Hands (Other than the fingers you play with):
    Eyes:
    Mouth:
    Legs:
Inside your head (What you're thinking/not thinking):
    Other Various Parts:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Me: (I play spread, askl)

Hands: My pinkys usually angle upwards and curl up as much as possible. I don't know why, but that just helps me play. If I don't have them curled up, I feel very weird and conscious when I play, distracting me. My thumbs occasionally scratch (like I have an itch) the outsides of my index fingers, or my index fingers curl up and scratch the webbing between my indexes and thumb, only when I'm on a freeze or pause or something. I think that happens just because I feel like I get hyper-sensitive when I play.

Eyes: My eyes focus where the text timing comes up (marv, perf, etc). I don't know why, but ever since I started playing DDR and stepmania, I've always looked at that part of the screen. I guess it's just because it's sort of near the middle, but a little higher, giving me time to comprehend the note, and then time it to hit it correctly. I rarely blink when I play, but when I do, it doesn't distract me. I think my friend counted me blinking like, 5 times in a 2 minute song, just because my eyes don't dry out quickly. Or, I sometimes blink constantly. Dunno why.

Mouth: I usually have my mouth hanging open, mainly because I breath through my mouth more often than my nose. Sometimes my lower jaw quivers in beat with the music. I also open my mouth all the way, like I'm popping my ears. Very weird. My friends tease me about it all the time when I play DDR, mainly because I'm kind of chubby and I get a double-chin when I do that. I also lick my lips in sync with the music sometime, too. Whenever a strand of my hair droops down, I try as much as possible to blow it out of the way, but that usually doesn't work. I end up exiting the song and fixing my hair most of the time.

Legs: I always have my left leg folded underneath me. My right leg is either firmly planted on the ground, or it's bouncing along with the BPM of the song.

Inside My Head: Whenever I play a song, I blank out. The only thing I really hear is a metronome to the BPM. I sort of hear the song, but I don't listen. I can hear the rhythm, but not the words, or really anything else. If there's a TV on or something, I can hear it when I start the song, but when I'm playing it, I don't hear it at all. Then, when the song is over, I can hear the TV again. It really has nothing to do with the volume of the music or TV, it's just the concentration I put into stepmania.

    Other Various Parts:

Ears: I twitch my ears a lot, kind of like I'm tuning into the music more clearly.
Chest: Whenever I play a fast stream, or a huge jump-stream, my chest tightens up, which really hurts. But it does help me get through those tough parts.
Arms: Fast stream/Jump streams again, I tighten up my arms more than necessary, and I raise my shoulders when I do them.
Butt: I clench it all the time >.>

Re: What happens to you when you play FFR/SM?

    Nice topic

Hands: I play Standard style. Two handed, middle and ring finger. I noticed that on my right hand, at streams, my index finger points directly into the air. Sometimes, it's a little creepy and I get thrown off trying to keep it down.

Eyes: I see past the notes if there is a background and watch the image or the video that might be playing. I could play effectively and tell you exactly what's happening in the BG stuff.

Mouth: My tongue tends to click in time to the bass *if exists* On other songs, it just rolls around to try and keep up with my fingers.

Legs: My legs don't jump around like they do when I'm TRYING to sit still. It's as though I'm majorly preoccupied.

Inside your head : I'm not thinking about any schoolwork that might need to be done. I'm thinking about the song and how certain individuals would congratulate me on my grade. *if you read this you know who you are*

Other Various Parts: It seems as though my body doesn't like me playing FFR/SM because at times, my nose'll itch or my eye will twitch. At CRITICAL points in a song.

Since I'm such a non-conformist; I'm not going to conform to conforming with you guys. So I'm not using the layout you told me to.

      Toes: I twitch them alot.
      Eyes: I blink alot
Nerves: I get alot of nervous-twitches in my fingers
Noes: I expand my nose (The two flappy bits luls.)

      I'm freakishly weird Oo

I curl my pinky fingers so much it hurts. I also do as many funny faces you can think of in 3 minutes.

Hands: Well I play with two fingers so I use my index and middle, but my thumb and pinky will cramp up or get locked up.

Eyes: They twitch a bit and wonder

          Mouth: Nothing really

Legs: During ddr they get tired but in ffr nothing

          Inside your head: Anything lol

Other Various Parts: I'll get an itch sometimes.

Hands: My thumb curls inward and it hurts. My left hand rests on the end of the keyboard.

Eyes: I might blink a lot -- not sure

Mouth: I tend to bite my lip

            Legs: Moving to the beat

Inside your head: I hope I can get a better score

Other Various Parts: I dance in my seat

Head: I shake it if I lose my combo
