      use the search feature, becuase I just answered this question like 3 days ago.

      Hit free, and then hit home.

      Technically, your pet is still in your profile, because it's been lured to another one by the bait. So hittnig free frees it up, and hitting home brings it back.

          Someone needs to make a profile pet faq sticky, there's been over 7 threads on this exact "problem" so far. But since no one reads the stickies, maybe there should be a faq link within the pet area or something... Just thinking out loud...
