    repost: Song from 300

    I originally posted this in the wrong forum so i'm reposting it here...

    can someone play this song and tell me what you think. I've never made a song before and i want some feed back.

    p.s. You'll have to wait for like 30 seconds at the begining of it cause there's silence there (i couldn't figure out how to cut it out of the song sorry)

      You can use any audio editing program to cut out the silence. Goldwave and Audacity are two examples of free software (GoldWave is actually free for 2000 commands, but that'll still last a while).

          ahhh thanks man. I didn't catch that (obviously) Also, I didn't know that you could recreate posts in different forums with edit. I'll check out those songs, but do you think you could comment on mine?

                  yeah wow i knew that i just didn't catch the line somehow. By the way, i have audacity, but stepmania won't load the new version of the song as an mp3 file even after i added the .mp3 tag to the file name. It doesn't even show up on the list of songs i can make into a stepmania song, when you go to create song in stepmania tools. Do you know why?

                      Well, you can't just add the .mp3 suffix to any file and make it a working mp3. It has to be encoded as an mp3 when you save it. If you have Audacity, make sure you have the appropriate .dll file so you can export it. It's probably not working on Stepmania because it can't read the file as an mp3. Stepmania can read .ogg files as well, so don't think you have to stick to one file format for music.

                          what is a .dll file and how do i know if i have the right one? sorry i dont' know much about this.

                              Don't worry about what a .dll is. This particular file is what lets Audacity export a project as an mp3.

                              Here's a download. You just need to extract the .dll file and then locate it with Audacity when you try exporting an mp3
