Here
is a new music game for all of you music game fans that play FFR: Downbeat. As far as music games go, it is mediocre and quite frankly not worth the money they ask you for, but if you enjoy Simon, FFR, or Elite Beat agents, you should give the game its 60 minute free trial period. Basically, four panels are arranged in a "Simon" like fashion. Circles will come in at your cursor, and its your job to click on the correct panel in time to the beats when the circle reaches the cursor. However(this is where things start to go wrong), the timing is about 1/16th off beat. For a game called Downbeat, it sure has a very weak sense of musical timing. The songlist consists of 10 very popular tunes from the 80's such as "Material Girl" and "Whip It". However, instead of using the actual recordings, Gamelab went ahead and used cheap sounding MIDI versions. This is odd, since the game is licenced by VH1, and you would expect them to have any kind of recording. I give it 6/10. Try the game out and post your comments here.
