    Good 1-handers... doing challenging+ songs

I'm a 1-hander and I'm able to FC any very difficult song if I try for a while (meaning there's nothing I'm not capable of) and most challenging songs are pretty much doable for me, but a few have stuff that I'm not quite fast enough for.

But how can you really be fast enough to do anything tougher than that? Using your right middle finger on the up and down arrow is just so difficult for these songs... I use a laptop and I can basically slide my finger from the top arrow to the bottom which is faster for me than a regular keyboard, having to lift it up to the other key. Any tips or suggestions? Or is it just practice, practice, practice?

Don't use 1 hand. 2 hand is the way to go.

I once used 1 hand for 5 years. I could FC Quasar 1.4x rate but now I could AAA it

uh, best advice i can tell you, is that you probably wont ever be able to AAA a song that has an up down trill. Trust me.. Unless you have some godlike fast middle finger. I usually just hit the up arrow with the top of my middle finger and lay down my middle finger to hit the bottom arrows. Instead of trying to push each arrow with the top of my finger.

its hard to explain, but once you get that, you'll be able to fc a lot more songs, like im able to.

Quickly switch your index finger to the down arrow key when there are trills and use your middle finger for the up key.. If there aren't any trills then you have to deal with it.
But, if there are 4+ arrows that go up and down I guess you could use your index for the down arrow key if they're bigger than 16th notes.. Depends what the BPM is.

          lol.

Hmm. Never thought of this. I'm able to FC stuff about as hard as Delirium using just standard 1-handed style, sliding my middle finger from the up and down arrows, but not much harder than that.

I thought I was the only one doing that.

But what do you mean by sliding?

I just lift up my middle finger instead of sliding it up and down.. Now that I think about it I sort of get the concept of "sliding". I just never thought about THAT before. But when I compare by lifting it's probably the same speed.. I don't usually use my index for the down key commonly. I only do that on extended trills because it's more speed and you don't tire as quickly. (i.e. Max Forever)

Tell me if I got the definition of "sliding" wrong though please.

                Thanks,

Since I use a laptop, the keys are small and flat, and I can just slide up and down, whereas on a regular desktop keyboard it would be different and probably harder to do the same thing.

depending on what kind of keyboard you have.

i have a razer tarantula. Perfect for sliding.

Aww.. I guess I can't do it then.

Even if I tried, I could only slide down from the "up" arrow key, to the "down" arrow key since the up key is a little higher than the down one.

Yeah yeah I know what you mean. I'm away at boarding school so this is the only keyboard I'm really able to use since I don't have a desktop here so I've made the best of it. Turns out I'd rather this keyboard anyway! XD

Heh.. But even if I did have a laptop, I couldn't imagine it being any easier to do instead of lifting. It would be nice to have a laptop though anyways. It's just that I've been always lifting my middle finger for parts of songs, and on trills, my index on the bottom key. It's pretty difficult taking on something new, though it might be useful.

                          *cough* ..like playing spread.. *cough*

Use two or four fingers. Those ways are much easier than three if you want to stay one handed IMO.

Sigh, I would suggest spread, but I won't argue this time.

Set hot keys to something like 1324 or adsf or fghj etc...then use 4 fingers there. It is less awkward, and trills are much easier. The hot key thread is the "Mapping keys" sticky at the top of this thread.
