Is punk really dead? What do you think. I don't think it really is, but I wanna know what you think. I think, that it is such a selfish idea. People who say that act like they own the deffenition of punk rock and that's stupid. There is no deffention of punk so therefore, it can't be dead. You can't kill something without a single deffenition.

You gotta take in mind The Exploited, The Adicts, and bands like that who are still playing today.Comment

Exactally, punk has no true deffenition, therefore, there is no way to kill it."WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT? DID YOU GET A GOOD PICTURE?"

Re: Punk's Not Dead...
YEAH DEFFENITIONS TOTTAWLY RUWEL. on a more intelligent note, the saying punk is dead is just a general statement saying that punk as it existed in the 70s and 80s hardcore scene (black flag, dead kennedys) had pretty much deteriorated. punk now is really for the most part ignorantly political and heavily pop-influenced with lots of hooks and radio play.squirrel--it's whats for dinner.Comment

Re: Punk's Not Dead...
If somthing has no definition then it doesn't technically exist. The general definition of it is rebelous music which is quite monotonic which means it doesn't really play outside much of a range. This is why I hate it, its mostly the same tonic and most people like it for its lyrics which I honestly couldn't care less about.
Another thing I will say about punk is pop-punk is not punk. Good Charlotte is not punk, the last punk band I've seen on Much Music would be Rancid or The Transplants which was a while ago.Comment

Re: Punk's Not Dead...
Punk is still alive (even if Fugazi has disappeared...).
You just need to go to church basements and stuff to find it and hang out with a bunch of really dirty people. I kind of lost hope when Against Me! sold out but what are you gonna do?
That which is truly punk will never die until everyone has forgotten what it is.
Also, something does not need a definition to exist. No matter, this is not CT.

Re: Punk's Not Dead...
Fido, you're one of those people that just likes to classify EVERYTHING specifically. Saying pop punk isn't punk is like saying soft rock isn't rock. Yea there's subgenres, but when it comes right down to it, punk is punk, no matter what variation of it. It's not dead. It's not as huge as it was, but certainly isn't dead. I love punk.Comment
