darren shan
yea he's a really good author
i liked cirque du freak...was actually gonna go look for it at the library again since i haven't read them in ages
i added him on myspace =P
I personally couldn't make it through the first one, but then again, I'm a fan of such classics as:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Stranger in a Strange Land (re-re-re-reading btw)
I, Robot
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (also known as Blade Runner)
and of course, my personal fave, The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy. (confusing if you don't have the right experiences to interpret it with)

Do you have any idea how hard it is to type up a course on a tiny ass netbook?

I liked them, but the ending to the series was terrible.
The ending of the series was NOT terrible. It was the perfect ending to this kind of story. It ended just the way he wanted it to. I would make a quote that would make the ending make more sense, but that would spoil it for those of you who haven't finished the series yet.
So yeah, this series was amazing. Darren Shan is a fabulous horror author. You should also check out his series in progress now, The Demonata. I love how he gave a completely new spin on the vampire role instead of the generic, overused, but still slightly entertaining view.

Note: His books are not for the weak of mind. Don't EVER make assumptions when you read his works because usually you are wrong. You think, HA, it'll have a happy ending, it's SO predictable.
You're wrong.
You think, well that character CAN'T die because he's too important to the story.
You're wrong.
His twists are bloody amazing. I'm left with a sense of gladness if all my favorite characters are still alive after finishing one of his books. But he doesn't write to give you a sense of gladness. He writes to entertain, to shock, to give horror. That he does, and he does it quite well.
I loved the storyline in the earlier books but towards the end, especially in the last book, it started to fall apart a litte bit...His writing style takes a little bit to get used to, especially if you read authors like R.A. Salvatore or Ed Greenwood.

Pssh. I'd Rave in her claw if you know what I mean.
I read like the first three books, but then got sick and tired of waiting for weeks to get the book at the library.
I kind of got bored of them :/
Maybe I just need to re read them.
And how many books are there?
13, right?
I greatly enjoyed the series. Intrigued after reading the first one, I read every one in the series, then read Shan's Demonata series up to the book called Bec. After that, I just forgot about it or lost interest.
