    Love and Altruism

Do you think Love and Altruism are synonymous? I'm speaking of love in its purest form.

I believe this is true. This definition covers all forms of "love" Love for a family member, love for a friend and love for a partner.

I'd say most useful definitions of love include altruism, but you are perfectly capable of being altruistic with regard to things that you don't love.

        Re: Love and Altruism

I find acts of altruism are derived from an individual gaining something from being altruistic. That is to say, an individual feels a pleasurable stimulus when they promote benevolent actions, so the whole idealogy of altruism is kinda paradoxial.
