Ok, here's what i think. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but maybe we could give people their overall rank by comparing their average rank to everyone else's. Like Billy is ranked 2000 and Joe is ranked 2100, but Joe has a better average rank, you don't know who is better unless you know the average rank of both players. But if overall rank was based on average rank, you would know right away who is better. Any thoughts on this?

The only problem with having average rank be the deciding factor is that it forces top players to whore old offbeat crapfiles such as snowman/sunshine girl file and terror from beyond/etc to get a good average rank. Many people only believe challenging songs and up (and a few very difficult songs) should be considered when deciding who is the best. Also, that system would take FOREVER to update, apparently, because it would have to keep track of over TWO HUNDRED stats for each person rather than ONE grand total. grand total is basically the lazy, inaccurate way to determine ranking. It would only be meaningful if everyone played the same number of games and had joined for the same number of days. the top players list simulates average rank being the determining factor in who is the best, given that only the harder songs are included.Comment

old news. everyone already knows that overall rank means little. i would say that your lvlrank should be as apparent as your overall rank, but as it's been said, that would be difficult to implement. most people will tell you openly what their lvlrank is if you're that curious about where you stand.Back to "Back to Earth"

There's way too many factors the give a REAL average rank. So grand total score makes most sense because it is easiest on the server.
