A human botfly is a parasite that burrows its way through your skin and lives off your flesh, it really exists and is extremely common, though it can only be found in southern mexico, central america, and south america.
The female lays its eggs on a mosquito and when the mosquito bites a human the warmth from the blood causes the eggs to hatch, and the newly born larvae burrow through the skin near the bite. For the next few weeks they feed off of your flesh before becoming full bread flies which are 10" long and
2" thick which break the skin and fly away. The botfly is not deadly, but can risk infection, there have been a few cases of botfly larvae burrowing through the brain and eyes causing death. Here are images, be warned some are disturbing...
