So today I went to Carowinds (an amusement park on the North/South Carolina border). We stopped in the arcades while we were there. The DDR machine was sadly out of order (although there was so much dirt on the pads it would've been unplayable anyways), but in the small arcade there was a Beatmania ripoff called Beat Player. It had 5 keys and a turntable in the same setup as Beatmania. My friend and I played for a bit, it had some annoying songs and every song was way offsync (once I finally got the hang of it I couldn't hit anything because the songs were synced so early, and my friend beat me every time by pressing more buttons than me
). The most memorable song was called Dance of the Ooze, which featured incredibly loud and earshattering synth-drums throughout the enitre thing.
After the park closed, we went to the mall by there to eat, which featured 3 awesome arcades. I finally got to play Pump It Up for the first time. The first time I played on hard and failed because I couldn't read 5 panel on 1x at all. Once I figured out how to turn on 2x I was able to at least not make a fool of myself. It was fun and hopefully somewhere closer to my house will purchase Pump Pro when it comes out so I can learn 5-panel. I rounded out the day by playing a round of DDR on what I suspect was a bootleg machine. It was called "Dance Dance Revolution Megamix," but it was just Extreme with a few more English translations and some ghetto menu graphics.
Just a "post about it on FFR" day
