    Clipping?

Well, I was trying to make a song today, but whenever I put to many loops in the playlist at once every thing starts getting all static-like, and clipping. Can someone tell me how to prevent this from hapening?

EDIT: Ummm, Turning down the volume in the Mixer thing Helped a lot, But there is still instances of clipping.

Turn down the sound effects that are clipping.

Make sure that your output is going to your soundcard and not to the default sound driver. That is, if you have a soundcard.

By clipping do you mean the levels are too loud and the sound is clipping?

Or by clipping do you mean your processor can't keep up with the demands of your song?

              Re: Clipping?

I'm pretty sure Nick is referring to the crackling noise (distortion) you hear. I had this problem, but from what I read from experienced users, using limiters or compressors may help. Compressors basically modify signal level changes from becoming too high (clipping) or too low (sounds difficult to hear).
I haven't created music in a while, so I haven't tried this yet. Compressors may be useful because I don't want to turn down the sound of stuff that makes the song clip, to the point where it becomes too quiet.

Here's a quote from Kurt Kurusaki on what clipping is:
"...the dynamic range of digital audio is measured between the full level of maximum of 0 decibels, and silence (negative infinity decibels). Signals exceeding 0dB are called "overs" and cause clipping...To prevent clipping, the levels of individual signals have to be attenuated so that when they're mixed (added together),their total level won't exceed 0dB."

Yeah compression is pretty much necessary in all music nowadays. I apply compression control to every instrument grouping I have in the mixer. Mastering compression is a giant step toward cleaner sounds.
