The lack of VSTi support is also what drive me away from Reason, though it's still a good program. I mainly just use it as a ReWire slave for Orkester.

Another reason I don't like Reason is that...how do I put it...I don't feel comfortable using it. It just doesn't feel organized very well.

Didn't Reason implement a new organizing feature for 3.0? It could save you some time if you used a lot of tracks to make your music.

But.. this isn't the real world. This is the computer, designed to make life easier. Why simulate something that is difficult to begin with?

I really want a midi keyboard, it's really hard to do on the fly stuff without it, and its piano roll is a pain in the ass with a mouse. D:

I can't imagine myself doing all of my compositions with just the mouse. Yeah, get an electronic keyboard and an adaptor to plug it into the computer; you will be thankful for buying one.

I use both my mouse and my qwerty keyboard to get melody ideas. I poke around getting something I like, then fine tune it by hand to get it to sound exactly how I want it.

So how often do you quantize your notes? Because I use a midi keyboard, I have to do that a lot to get my melodies and beats in line.

Back on topic, get Reason if you can:
1) afford it
2) be willing to learn how to use it
3) find a lot of time on your hands

Actually, FL has the awesome ability to save files ACIDized, so dumping into ACID is quite easy and lets you achieve this as well.

Yes, but, if you don't run a good computer, the processing to get that sound can be VERY strenuous.

Also, lets face it, not a lot of people know how to manipulate waves.
