People like Super Sentai because of the action.
Also the mystical/fantasy elements are usually pretty good. People use powers to change into a special outfit and they become stronger and fight monsters. They use amazing weapons and even more amazing GIANT ****ING ROBOTS.
The only lacking element of good television is character development, and even that is not completely devoid. I cannot speak for Super Sentai specifically as I have never seen it, but Power Rangers still has fairly devent character development for a "kiddie show".
That, and in the end good always wins. People like this type of thing because it can give them hope in this world in which much of the time, good simply can't completely overcome the evils of human nature.
