Do NOT sign up for a game if you don't understand how to play

If you don't understand the workings of the game, in any aspect, please seek answers before signing up for a game.

This thread will work wonders: The TWG Beginners Guide and FAQ

If you still have questions about the game, either post in this thread, post in another, make your own thread, or contact one of the following people:

    iggymatrixcounter: iggy911mc(aim)
    Stoic RoivaS: Stoic RoivaS(aim)
    DiscoBobbyPARANOiA: DBP TWG(aim)

(Not to be discriminating, It's just that I'm nearly positive none of us would mind helping someone out with little to no notice)

    PMs work wonders too.

In short: Know what you are getting yourself into, people take this game a bit more seriously than you may think, and if you sign up then say 'lol wut dat?' you will get flamed.

@everyone: I know this isn't my job, but if you've read either of the last two jTWGs, and are aware of the D1 lynch, you'll know this is in order.

EDIT: I think that dog has to go, I can't even take myself seriously with it there.

hey i think we should sponsor a jtwg/TWG big brother program.

have a jtwg where each jtwger is paired with a TWGer, make sure the TWGers dont know roles or anything, and they can go to them with questions or work out strategies together.

we'd just have to make sure that the TWGers are playing an advisory role, and not taking over the game, but i think it might be cool.

Re: Do NOT sign up for a game if you don't understand how to play

We've mentioned shadowing a few times in the past, but nothing serious has ever arisen that I'm aware of. I think it's a good idea. It'll help newer people learn the basic mechanics of the game quicker as well as ease them into the beginnings of strategy. We need to be sure the vets don't talk back and forth and accidentally bias their information or slip anything to their shadow, but otherwise, I think it would be a big help to those people willing to give it a shot. I'm always more than willing to help.

How about this, if anyone is willing to have jTWG player shadow them, or even to aid them with their own game, say so here and we'll get a list going. I can put it up in the beginner's guide and/or its own thread. I know it's a learning experience to some, but others don't like to play a game they already know how to play with people that don't. This should help at least some.

I'd be more than willing to have someone 'shadow' me in a game, or pair with a jTWGer as an advisory role.

I'll do shadowing stuff... at a premium since many twgers may want to shadow me XD. Just kidding.

I like the idea of a shadow thing, I could really use it to learn some of the more complex strategies that I can't gain from simply reading previous TWGs.

Don't worry, it's more directed at fenris and everyone else who thinks 'hay this looks fun lets sign up', and plus, we've already talked about it .

                  Poor John.
                  But I agree.
And shadows sound like a lot of fun. We should try it next game, hm?

Re: Do NOT sign up for a game if you don't understand how to play

i'm suggesting the opposite i think.

people sign up for a jtwg, and each gets a TWG big brother.

during the jtwg, the jtwgers can ask for advice, with the TWGers main role being getting the jtwgers to think of things themselves, kind of like a "well what if the wolves were using this strategy" or "well what would be a good way to NOT get lynched".... get the jtwgers thinking for themselves, while giving them someone to bounce ideas off of.

I think either would be a good idea, to be honest.

Are there really enough nice and willing TWG'ers though....?

Either way would work really, but if it were the jTWGers playing, they'd care a bit more, and may be more willing to seek out advise for their own games. Where as if it were a jTWGer watching a TWGer play, they'd be less inclined to care and ask questions, especially considering the TWGs are generally more complex. Big Brother > Shadow.

                            definitely like fojar's idea better

if you had a jtwg player shadowing you, and you were a wolf, it's a valuable learning experience... for them so they can spot you as a wolf in the future.
