So, you may or may not recall a thread about a month ago about my unfortunate mishap involving my brand new Samsung D807 slider phone and my washing machine. I'd link to it, but then some idiot would bump it and I'd be mad. If you don't recall, I'll sum it up: cell phone in bathrobe pocket, bathrobe in washer, cell phone in washer. Oops. After it dried out, it worked fine, but the screen was pretty much permanently damaged. Sometimes it appeared as though nothing was wrong, but often images on the screen were mangled and hard to read.
Well, last week, while getting ready for a Sing performance, my future roommate accidentally stepped on my phone, further damaging the screen (sometimes there's this cute little heelprint). We had purchased insurance, so I figured, "What the hell, I'll get a phone that doesn't have problems."
So I called Cingular's insurance place last night around 6:00 to file a claim. The guy actually LAUGHED at me when I told him what all had happened to my phone (Amanda: Well, first it got wet, then my roommate stepped on it... Guy: *snicker* Amanda: Yeah, I've been sort of unfortunate... Guy: *can't contain laughter*), and then quickly drew up a request to have my new one sent out to my house. He was very kind, made small talk, but not the awkward kind, and promised me I'd have my new phone within two or three days along with packaging and postage to mail my old one back to them.
It came this morning.
I got back from teaching at 9:30, took a shower, and left for work at 10:10, and there it was on my doorstep. Shiny and new and undamaged.
I am so amazed at this speed.
