    The First Time I Play a Song = High Score Which I Can Never Beat

    Why is it that the first time I play a song, that score is always my highest. I think I have only ever beaten my initial score on about a couple of songs.

    Any theories? D:

      Because you're playing by true reaction rather than expecting the notes. Until you start memorizing parts of the song, the best way to play is through reaction.

          I don't really have this problem much, but I have one where if I FC a song that I've tried to FC for a while, then I can't FC it again. Soem are Cia Rave, Deep Breath and Maple Leaf Rag.

                  Pfft, I don't understand how your brain can comprehend these songs that well. I'm lucky if I can even get half of the max combo on those hard songs. D:

                  Of course I am only ranked 3,000. Everyone else in this thread is like below 100.

                      For me it varies song to song. Songs like Nova Pulser I couldn't FC until just a few months ago because there was a particular pattern I didn't recognize. After that it was easy as hell.

                      Very few times will I get a very good score first time through but I think it's happened.

                              When Carrousel Paradise was first released, I played once without screencut, just to see what the steps were like, etc. Second try with screencut, AAA. Ever since, nothing close. =/

                                          my theory is you dont really comprehend anything. once you play a song alot, you start to recognize patterns and just sort of instinctivly hit the arrows.

                                          i could be wrong. its just a theory.
