Oh, how I ponder everyday about it.
I'm not talking about XBOX, Playstation, Ps2, Wii, 360, ps3. All of those game sytems cannot halt my craving for excellence, not even close. (Wii gets close
)
I'm talking about the one and only... Sega Dreamcast. I want one of these so bad, its not
even explainable.. Oh wait it is.
Heres the story. I first saw one of these while I was in a game store in Canada (Visiting Uncle
), I think it was called BlockBuster, and the Dreamcast was on display all over the store (1999 at the time). Everyone was like WOAH DREAMCAST!. And then the moment of excitement happened.
The dreamcast "play booth" (Where you play the dreamcast in the store), was unoccupied, and I was the first to notice. So I rushed over there, and picked up the controller. Kinda felt awkward, but I got used to it fast, and the controller was comfortable. SoI played Sonic adventure, and at that time that was good graphics! (Still is, in my eyes).
Sonic Adventure was superb, I was running fast, collecting rings, dodging enemies, and fighting bosses. I was in total awe as, this was like AMAZING!.
Not to mention the name.. Dreamcast, it rolls off the tongue nicely, and playing it seemed like a dream, indeed. I sat there and played for hours and hours on end, playing. Then a store employee came by and told me it was time for me to get off, and then I relized I was only playing for about 30 minutes, and people were getting mad.
I asked my Uncle like 10000000 times, to buy this for me, but at the time he didn't have any cash, or time to go look for one.
Now its 2007, Around 8 years since the dreamcast first released. I've been thinking about it on and off this whole time, and just relized I don't have one of my own. Wow.
Like, through all the years, it stuck in my head... No game system has ever had that effect on me. Not even the Wii.
Like the dreamcast was ahead of its time as it was able to output true 640x480 VGA, and, with certain games, even 16:9 widescreen at 720x480 (480p60 EDTV), which was new and hardly ever heard of back then, and it even had ONLINE!
People say the Dreamcast is dead, but thats not true, as a few games just got released, and Phantasy Star servers are free forever now, IGN has a dreamcast section thats updated alot..
So here I leave you, whats your thoughts about the Dreamcast?
(*cough* I want one!)
