He hummed with a joyous fervor. Uhgaak had just caught a fine dinner, a small saber-toothed tiger cub slung over his shoulder, he galloped along toward his cave. The prehistoric landscape was dotted with small, dreary shrubbery and the occasional stunted tree. It had been a while since his hunting expeditions had provided any results. Ever since he and his life-partner, Larry, had been banished from the clan the living situation had been quite rough. They did not have any of their clan-mates to help them with their hunting and gathering, so the larger prey, like wooly mammoths and SUVs were all but impossible to track and kill.
Uhgaak felt the familiar tremble of a Nissan Armada coming from behind a small hill. Uhgaak lowered himself into a crouching position and held his breath. Luckily, the beast lumbered away looking for another gas station to fill up its insatiable appetite.
Uhgaak furrowed his already protruding brow. Those things were getting braver and braver every year, straying into Neanderthal territory more and more with each passing herd. Uhgaak did not get to finish his thought however, because just at that moment, a Ptreodactyl swooped down from the blue sky and chomped him in half before he could even protest that it had been extinct for twenty million years prior.
