    The Fountain

    I couldn't find a thread for this.

    Did anyone else see this film? It came out at the end of November I think.

    Because if you didn't, it was well done. Really, it was one of the best performances of the year IMO. Handfulls of people didn't like it but I'm not really sure why. I watched with an open mind and was rather impressed.

    I found, in most of the reviews I read that were negative, that the reviewer either 1. Didn't understand what was going on, or 2. Appeared to have something against the movie before even going into it. Anyway...

    Incredibly well written script. Props to Aronofsky for delivering something fresh and multi-layered. Generic, predictable and unintelligible movies have assulted the theatre for awhile now. This one really stands out from the rest.

    Artistically it was rather impressive as well. Definitely some great shots in there that are quite innovative.

    Also, the acting was top notch. Hugh Jackman did an incredible job and definitely put out one of the performances of the year. Rachel was great too.

    9/10

    Although the movie as a whole I thought was alright (not stunning from my perspective) I thought Jackman did a great job.

      Hm. I haven't seen it yet. It sounds like it'd be definitely something worthwhile to watch. Thanks for posting about it.. I'm eager to watch it now. ;-;

          I really wanted to see this, strictly because it's Aronofsky. I just never got the chance. I'll try for it when it hits DVD.

              Many people didn't like it because they didn't understand it. It truly was a great movie.

                1. It's easy to make fun of something before understanding it.

                2. I suppose the 1500 AD part of the story was more or less a symbolic journey of Tommy's understanding of death, where as the movie is actually taking place in 2500 AD.

                Admittingly, it was kind of funny when the flowers started growing out of him XD, but the message behind it was pretty powerful.

                  Oh, I didn't hate it. It's still easy to make fun of, I think, because it really was a little too strange. But it's not a bad movie by any means.

                    Surreal, and abstract, but absolutely mind-blowing.
