The Black Parade; My Chemical Romance

I just obtained a copy of this CD. I didn't really like, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love," or "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge," but I won the CD in a radio giveaway.

Turns out, I really really like it. It's quite a departure, for the most part, from the other two CDs. This one has more of a big band, showtuney feel and the lead singer (Whatever his name is) actually belts out some good notes.

I was just wondering if anyone else had heard the entire album yet? If so, what do you think of it?

There's less post-hardcore and more emo. But then, that's never a bad thing. It might just be me, also.... I think The Black Parade track is really overrated. But I'm a fan of MCR regardless of whatever sorts of stereotypical dumb ****s pull out of their asses. I just liked "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" better.

I really liked Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. Never got a chance to hear much else from them. The single that's out for this album sounds really good though, so I'm really looking forward to obtaining a copy of it.

After hearing the rest of the CD, I can tell you the single is pretty much a good stand alone, but sucks compared to the rest of the album.

I don't like the first minute and 20 seconds or so of black parade but the rest of the song is really sweet. Their CD i haven't heard enough of but i really enjoyed Three Chears for Sweet Revenge.

Really? I find those first two verses (well, the same verse, just once with screaming) to be the best part of that song... :/

Do they revert to screamo at all in the entire CD?

That is the deal breaker for me, because Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge was a great CD and they're original CD isn't that great because of the screaming.

All of their albums have screaming on them, but not full on screaming. He usually does it just to hit higher notes.

I just got this CD off of iTunes. This CD is a huge improvement from the previous ones. I heard that the Rolling Stones called it "the 70s album of 2006" or something like that. Either way it's a great album.

Does "Welcome to the Black Parade" remind anyone else a little of Queen? I can swear I hear a little Bohemeon Raphsody (sp?) in there. Sounds good though, I will probably buy it if people on ffr say it is good. Seriously, though, if the CD is better than the single, that is cool, because I liked the single.

The single, to me, was the stand out suck track of the CD. Not that it's terrible, but the other songs on the CD are leaps and bounds better.

I heard some of it during Art Club yesterday. Not exactly my type of music, but it sounded pretty good.

Okay, well, I wasn't too fond of this album. They totally lost that "graveyard rock" feel from "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" that I knew them for... The only song on "The Black Parade" I can bear listening to is "Teenagers". Usually, I like piano/vocal songs (like the begining of "Welcome to the Black Parade"), but... just not from them. Knowing their album before this, it just doesn't seem like something they would do... I want to hear more songs like "The Jetset Life is Going to Kill You" from them. =/

I think the mark I like the most is that this album sounds so different and to me, it still sounds good. It's less frantic, more hook driven and with less noise in the background. I mean, I'm all for the "HOLY GOD WE HAVE TO GET TO THE NEXT CHORD" urgency of Bullets/Love and to a lesser extent, 3 Cheers, but I think this was a nice change of pace and if any other band had put it out, it would have elevated them to fame.

I dont like it. I didn't like My Chemical Romance that much in the first two. When I heard the third, i thought they were trying to be odd on purpose. I didn't like it. Posers.
