game + pad, i want to get into this

ive been playing ffr and SM for a bit half a year and never ever tried playing with my feet on a pad as i dont know any places around me that have any machines..

were could i possibly buy a pad for pc, if online maybe check if it ships to canada, or if not that, i could just buy a ps2 or something and u guys could recomend me something good and a pad i know i can buy for ps2 or xbox... i have a job so i got money coming in, but im not really lookin into spending alot money for like one of those 300$ big metal pads...

i hope playing on your feet is funner then with your fingers

    Ow, dictionary dude.

But seriously, if you're going to get into the game, I would highly recommend finding an arcade to play at, if it's close enough. Firstly, it's a good way to get out and hang out with people, especially if it's in a mall. Good social atmosphere to get yourself involved in if you're like me (I've been a recluse like all my life). Second, playing at an arcade often gives you more freedom of song choices, and in general you'll get a better play experience with arcade pads than home pads.

However, if you feel that the arcade scene isn't for you, there's a wonderful guide to home versions right on top of this forum. (here)

The last option is getting a pad rigged up to your computer to play StepMania on. I would say, from experience, this is definitely not the best idea if you're looking to keep prices down. At the moment, as far as I know, the only pad directly connectable to a PC is the Ignition 3.0. (Check out RedOctane.com for more on that.) My 3.0 broke within a few weeks of use, and they're simply too touchy for any of the more difficult songs. If you're willing to look into a larger investment, there are ways, but I haven't ever owned a metal pad, so I'm not the best source for that information.

    Best of luck!

i had read alot about ppl making their own home pads for computer out of like control boards of PC controllers, it doesn't seem that hard todo but i can't find a good guide..

im looking into buying a PS2 and i saw this ITG pad+ game combo package on ebgames website so i might end up buying that if i cant get a pad for pc thats under 100$.

If You Don't Use Wholesale Flash Drives, Here's Why You're F*$%ing Up!!!

Yeah, it's expensive, but it's worth it. One of the only good metal pads out there that don't break after the first week or 2 of play.

Then get In The Groove for Ps2. Best Console game that exists in my opinion.

You'll have ****-tons of fun if you get those two things.
